Robert Okinda is the Chair of AFQueT, a professional association of eLearning Practitioners in Africa. He is also the coordinator of INVEST Africa (Innovation in Vocational Education & Skills Training in Africa), an initiative of the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) bringing together TVET Practitioners in Africa and the Caribbean, championing Flexible Skills Development (FSD). He is also the Head of Open, Distance & e-Learning at the Kenya Technical Trainers College in Nairobi, Kenya.
He has vast experience in eLearning, dating back to 2004 when he starting integrating ICT in education under the Flemish Association for Cooperation and Development (VVOB); InWEnt (Capacity Building International, Germany); Microsoft Partners in Learning; Commonwealth of Learning; KSOG, eLearning and Development Institute (eLDi); Open Polytechnic of New Zealand; Open University of Malaysia; Open University of the UK; and, University of Cape Town, among others.
He has designed and developed several e-Learning courses, that include: Introduction to eGovernment; Network Management; ICT Integration Teacher Certificate Course; Introduction to Commune Extension Work; Introduction to Vocational Pedagogy; Professionalism in TVET; TVET Media; and, Leadership and Management in TVET (work-in-progress).
